Meet the Mum & Midwife.
Two mamas. One Midwife. One brilliant idea for antenatal and postnatal care.
We are Anneke and Sarah.
We founded Komu after recognising that there was a real need for antenatal and postnatal care to become more modernised.
We launched our original Beyond Birth online course back in 2018 as at this time, there was no alternative to affordable and accessible postnatal care out there for expectant and new parents. It was the first of its kind in the World back then and something we are immensely proud of to this day.
As a working Midwife, Anneke knew there was a real need for more comprehensive support for parents after they had their baby but for most people, this was either too expensive or not readily available so we put together a team of birth, antenatal and postnatal professionals to come together and share their expertise in one handy place online, through video workshops and audio guides. It was a huge success.
The following year we met Emiliana from The Mindful Birth Group who shared our passion and we saw an opportunity to support parents holistically with our courses so we created our Mindful Birth, Bump & Beyond course. Another World first combining hypnobirthing, antenatal and postnatal support with the added benefit of a monthly lie Zoom chat with Anneke and Emiliana themselves - these sessions proved to be invaluable through the Pandemic.
During this time, we decided to expand our offerings to antenatal courses so launched our Bump course and then in 2021 we launched our first app (and the first app ever to be midwife led and hypnobirthing friendly) - My Mindful Midwife. We wanted to create an app that supported all birth (physiological and abdominal) and routes to pregnancy and allowed parents to track their journey in a hypnobirthing and mindfulness friendly way. It also includes a wave (contraction) timer to help you through labour.
We are so proud of how far we have come, and in our role in supporting thousands of expectant and new parents across the globe through their pregnancy and birth. Our mission always has been to empower parents through knowledge so that they will have a positive journey and we hope that our courses and app continue to do that.
We wish you and calm and confident birth experience.

"As first-time parents we all experience different emotions and feelings. This huge, magnificent change in our situation takes some adjusting to, it just needs time, which is why I really wanted to also have the Komu email support system in place for those parents who feel they may need that little bit of extra, more personal care.
"Postnatally you have the least support, although you have midwives coming to see you, I believe continuity at home and resources to feel reassured is invaluable and I can’t wait to support mums and dads through our Courses."

" As parents-to-be and new parent you have so many questions that you probably didn’t even know you would need to ask from the serious to the more trivial ones, which is where the idea for Komu came from.
"Together, Anks and I wanted to create an accessible, simple antenatal and postnatal resource for new parents to help them navigate through pregnancy and birth to the first six months of their new life with their baby. Covering key areas of interest, it’s designed to help and reassure you along the way, not to mention save you time by having handy references and top tips all in one place. I’ve test run it on all my pregnant and mum friends and they’ve all said it was a brilliant resource, so we hope you agree!”
