Meet the Mum & Midwife.
Two mamas. Two babas. One brilliant idea for antenatal and postnatal care.
Becoming a parent is such a momentous occasion and we know only to well how completely overwhelming those initial months can be; the unsureness, the constant questioning but not wanting to look neurotic, even the smallest thing can become overwhelming, especially at 3am in the morning when you are frazzled and at your wits end from sleep deprivation but are trying desperately not to resort to Doctor Google!
The lack of support out there for parents is real and something Anneke, as a midwife, is acutely aware of. As soon as you take your bundle of joy home the support starts to drop off - at a time when you need it most.
Which is why we started Komu. Created by us, two mums - one a birth professional with over a decade of experience in Midwifery - we've produced an online digital resource to help support mums and dads through pregnancy, birth and those early days, weeks and months of parenting, into the fourth trimester and beyond!
We are very much aware how little time new parents have to even have a hot cup of tea, let alone find the time to research trusted experts to support you with your little one and then leave the house to go visit them. Which is why we created our Hypnobirthing, antenatal and postnatal courses, online resources that allows you to have access to professional support and practical advice from Midwives and trusted experts from the comfort of your home (or out an about on your phone!).
We want to empower new mums and dads with knowledge, in the hope that their pregnancy journey and onwards to becoming a parent won’t be a bumpy one and to let them know that they are not alone and there is support out there should they need it.
We want to see more of a full circle of support for mums from pregnancy → to birth → right the way through to early motherhood, so we are on a mission to make antenatal and postnatal care as wonderful as it can be, and ensure mum and dads are as prepared so that becoming a parent is as a positive and a happy of an experience as it can be.
We wish you all the best with your journey as new parents and we hope you enjoy the courses.

Anneke Brown, Midwife and mum to Rawdy and Romily
"As first-time parents we all experience different emotions and feelings. This huge, magnificent change in our situation takes some adjusting to, it just needs time, which is why I really wanted to also have the Komu email support system in place for those parents who feel they may need that little bit of extra, more personal care. "Postnatally you have the least support, although you have midwives coming to see you, I believe continuity at home and resources to feel reassured is invaluable and I can’t wait to support mums and dads through our Courses." |
Sarah Wallace, mum to Monty and Hooper
" As parents-to-be and new parent you have so many questions that you probably didn’t even know you would need to ask from the serious to the more trivial ones, which is where the idea for Komu came from. "Together, Anks and I wanted to create an accessible, simple antenatal and postnatal resource for new parents to help them navigate through pregnancy and birth to the first six months of their new life with their baby. Covering key areas of interest, it’s designed to help and reassure you along the way, not to mention save you time by having handy references and top tips all in one place. I’ve test run it on all my pregnant and mum friends and they’ve all said it was a brilliant resource, so we hope you agree!” |
